The Fuel Safety Switch, Purpose and Location
The fuel pump inertia switch will reset if there is a sudden jolt to the car. This is a safety feature. The fuel system is pressurized by the electric fuel pump. In the event of an accident, the fuel pump is turned off to prevent a fire.
Sometimes this switch is reset by a sudden jolt to the car, such as hitting a curb or large object with some force.
Check this switch if your car will not start after such an event. It is located on the left side of the engine bay, near the edge and below and forward of the windshield washer bottle.
