Kick-Off Valves (RB-239)
The KICK-OFF VALVES will be found on the FINISH BOARD at the end of the track underneath the flags. If necessary, the dial casting (RH-108) can be removed. If a horse wins, for example, say number 1 horse, and a coin placed in the number 1 slot in the coin chute, and no payoff takes place, it is necessary to make a slight adiustment on the KICK-OFF VALVE corresponding with the number 1 track. If no pay-off takes place, it is evident that the valve is not lifting high enough to let the vacuum transfer from one tube to the other. You will note that there are two tubes for each horse inserted in the FINISH BOARD, underneath the kick-off valve. The valve is seated on the vacuum tube and should seal the vacuum until the valve is lifted. When the valve is lifted it allows the transfer of the vacuum through the second tube, which is off center and connects to a pneumatic (RH-1019) under the dial, causing this pneumatic to collapse raising the pin in the Disc, and this pin raises the ring that corresponds with the pin which can be a 2, 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 pay-off. This in turn raises a flat spring valve (RH-280X) at the top allowing the outside air to enter into the vent line for that particular pay-off. The outside air raises the corresponding pouch in the valve box, and the vacuum is transmitted from that point to the corresponding pneumatic (RH-1017) at the side of the pay-out slides at the motor end of the machine.
