Odds Dial
When the horses start to run, at a point about 6" from the start, number 1 horse causes a valve (RH-212) to open. Note dog on the number 1 horse bracket underneath the track. The time that this valve remains open depends upon the speed of the number 1 horse, which allows the dial to spin irregularly. If you trace this line, you will f'ind that it connects with a VENT from one of the auxiliary valves, and from that point follow the red tubing which will lead to the dial spinning pneumatic (RH-11015). This pneumatic causes the dial to spin. If the valve (RH-212) at the point where the horse contacts should leak, the pneumatic that spins the dial will remain closed: if this happens, the valve must be adjusted to make it air tight. The dial will then spin normally. The paper odds dial (RH-600) with the figures printed on it, is timed with the pins on the disc (RH-106). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOOSEN THE SET SCREW holding this dial unless absolutely necessary. If necessary to remove these parts at any time, line up the No. 20 pay-off BRASSPIN (RH-311), in the disc (RH-106) (which is the pin furthest in on the diameter of the disc), with number 1 pneumatic (RH-1019) and lever (RH-254), and also with the ring (RH-255) corresponding to the 20 pay-off, and holding the dial in place with the "20" pay-off showing in the window on the number 1 horse then tighten the set-screw in place.
