Paces Races Restoration Progress April 16
The last assembly, the payout mechanism is removed from the cabinet and cleaning started.
The payout mechanism still in the cabinet with all the reset linkages still installed. The bellows in the middle receive a vacuum from the odds wheel indicating how many coins are to be paid out. The tube at the bottom left contains a stack of coins. The bellows pull a lever and all but the corresponding slides let coins fall into the payout drawer.
The linkage keeps the game going until the reset shuttle comes along and pushes the left lever. The mercury switch at the bottom right keeps the game motor going until the end.
The payout drawer is hidden and difficult to find. There is actually a patent to cover the drawer, the fact it is hidden and easy to fill.
Here is the payout mechanism out of the game, easily done because it is all mounted on a single casting.
Finally, an cabinet without any mechanical bits. Restoring the cabinet will be difficult because many of the wood joints have come apart. The alignment of all the pieces is critical for the doors and top to fit correctly.
The metal parts for the payout mechanism are clean. The bellows need to be recovered.
