Paces Races Restoration January 3
The coin head and linkages are removed, the motor is removed, and the left frame with crank are removed. Notice how dirty everything is. The grease is ages old and was applied multiple times. Playing the game now will cause the grit in the grease to act as sandpaper, causing excessive wear on all components.
This linkage moves the played coins along the trough and into the hopper. The right end is connected to the crank and oscillates back and forth. The right end is attached to a plate. The coins lean against the plate and move along as the plate is sloped downward.
The jack switch in the center of the picture is one of the few electrical parts of the game. It starts the motor when the player pushes the lever. It keeps the power on until the game can get started. Once the game starts a mercury switch keeps the power on until the race is over and the winnings have been paid.
The coin head accepts the bets. The linkage moves the coins down once the race is over.
